Tribird in Punta Cana
This has been a very busy month for our company and for us, crew members! In spite of being a recurrent destination, this would be my first time going to Punta Cana.

Reporting time was at 0500LT and we would fly empty to London-Gatwick where the 258 passengers would board for their flight to Punta Cana.
O voo até Punta Cana seria longo (8h40) e muuuiiiiito complicado. Muitos passageiros souberam reconhecer que nos fizeram a vida negra (!) afirmando no desembarque "you had a very hard work day" e agradecendo com simpatia!
This long flight (8h40) full of holiday makers was very demanding. Problems started during our taxi out for take-off with a couple that wanted to give up the flight and leave the aircraft since they started complaining about their seat belts not working the way they thought it should be. At the end of the flight, passengers where happy to arrive at their destination and recognized they made a very hard work day for us.
Aqui ficam umas fotografias do peculiar aeroporto de Punta Cana!
Now, some photos taken after the arrival at the peculiar airport of Punta Cana!
You can see the status of the cabin after the flight in the following video. Such a chaos... Not even during Hajj flights we witnessed such a mess. It took one hour to clean the aircraft...
During our short stopover at Punta Cana we had a very funny night out at Mangu Disco.
Calhou-me em sorte o lugar 8F à janela.
Next day, we would be dead-heading to Lisbon via New York flying as passengers in Continental Airlines. For the first leg we boarded flight CO879 operated by a 757-200 with winglets and registration number N12114. I was lucky to have a window seat (8F).

Our flight to New York took 3h46 and I was very pleased with our 757. Every seat was provided with an individual TV screen with movies, games and flight information.
During the approach to Newark airport we had some strong gusty winds that made some passengers throw up.

We landed in runway 29 in a S-shaped approach to give time for the preceding aircraft to vacate the runway. I was even able to see its landing and the smoke of burning rubber it did while touching down. We should really expect very tricky gusts!
And I was right... our landing was very far from a smooth one. In the middle of our taxi in we had to wait some minutes because one container was blown away from its place by the wind preventing our 757 to continue to its final parking position.
Our transit to Lisbon was short so we didn't go out of the airport. However we had time to eat something in a McDonalds restaurant inside the terminal. Every time I could see the Empire State Building though the terminal's glasses I missed the wonderful weekend I spent in New York one year and a half earlier.
We boarded another 757-200WL similar to the previous one except for the fact of not having indivual IFE system in Economy Class. During almost the entire flight we were shaken by moderate turbulence. With so many flights in our L-1011 I never saw her shaking that way. The L-1011 means another level of stability even in presence of turbulence.
Options for the main meal where chicken or lasagna. I opted for the chicken though it was not that tasty.
Because of the turbulence, Captain ordered the crew to stop the service for one hour and a half. And for the breakfast there were no hot drinks served.
Continental crew members who spoke portuguese in that flight, had written in their name badges "Eu falo português" which means "I speak portuguese".
